Course Description: MUSC 3210 - Music and Entertainment Marketing (3 Credits)

In this course students learn the essential elements of marketing as applied to the music and entertainment industry. Course topics include: marketing principles, theories and tools utilized in the music and entertainment businesses and specific industry practices and applications.


Relevant Course Work: Final Analysis Project on a Business Model.

In this course we were required to understand current business models within the industry and create a new sustainable business model in the industry. My team created a plan for an app that would allow musicians to network in a format that is similar to the popular dating app Tinder

Artist Management

Course Description: Students learn the theory and practice of artist management as it relates to developing a career through entrepreneurship, establishing business structures for the artist, and concepts including: promotion, live performance, recording, contracts, and essential business practices.


Relevant Course Work: In artist management we were required to network in within the class and complete an Artist Development Project in a team. I took my friend's band Birds Eye View and completed a complete artist analysis and rebranded them to new potential markets.

Music Touring

Course Description: Study of the important elements related to the successful execution of musical tours. Topics include tour management, deal memos and contracts, advancing a tour, tour routing, management/booking agents, merchandise sales, tour accounting, hand tour marketing. Prereq: MUSC 3210 and MUSC 3220. Restriction: Restricted to MUSC-BS majors within the College of Arts and Media. Max Hours: 3 Credits.


Relevant Course Work: In Music Touring I was required to understand different positions within the industry and their responsibilities, use Excel for merchandise sales and ticket sales sheets, analyze different sources of income and door deals.

The final project for this class was to route a fake tour and cover all logistics including; a day schedule, all costs and profit for the tour,

The main objective was to rebrand an artist that was assigned to you and find tools to market their brand locally.
